HSA Contributions and IRS Penalties - Monday, November 11, 2019

It is that time of year where I strongly encourage you to please check your HSA deductions and Thomaston Savings Bank accounts.   There are IRS penalties if you go over the calendar year limits.

Please take into consideration there will be two more payroll deductions for 2020.

There is a very easy & quick way to see what has been deposited in your HSA.

It just took me about 3 minutes to find my dollar amount for 2020.

  • Log onto your Thomaston Savings Bank account.
  • Click on “Accounts” on the top menu bar.
  • Click on “Account Activity” from the drop down.
  • Set the date range to “Other” and choose the date range 1/1/2020 – today’s date.
  • Show only: Deposits
  • Click “Search”

This will include all payroll deposits, district contributions, and any outside deposits you have made.   You can either add those transactions up from that screen or export it into Excel.

The IRS maximum for 2020 is:

Single plan: $3,550

Two person or Family plan:  $7,100

Age 55+: Additional $1,000
